Lynn Mehta

Originally from the West Coast, Lynn Mehta moved to Alexandria, Virginia where in 2008 she began participating in plein air competitions, which has extended to about a dozen competitions a year throughout the East Coast, and has expanded to California and Ireland.  As she strives to communicate an idea, or a shared truth about a scene, the artist evokes emotion through brush work and color. She finds painting outside increasingly compelling as she analyzes light and discovers meaningful sources of inspiration. Influenced by the early Impressionists, Mehta's work has been described as very painterly. A recipient of many awards and honors, her membership includes the American Impressionist Society, California Art Club, Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association, and the Salmagundi Club.
